At J.M. Rodgers, we believe that responsible business practices go hand in hand with environmental stewardship. As a company with a long history of global logistics expertise, we recognize the importance of sustainability in preserving our planet for future generations. In 2024, we took significant steps to reduce our environmental footprint, support conservation efforts, and contribute to a healthier planet. Building on the success of our 2023 sustainability efforts, we expanded our initiatives and deepened our impact. Here’s a look back at our green initiatives over the past year.
Planting for the Future: 3,000 Trees and Growing
One of our most exciting environmental contributions this year was our partnership with One Tree Planted, an organization dedicated to global reforestation. Through this collaboration, J.M. Rodgers helped plant 3,000 trees, reinforcing our commitment to carbon sequestration and biodiversity restoration. Trees play a crucial role in absorbing carbon dioxide, purifying the air, and providing habitats for wildlife—making this initiative a meaningful step toward a greener future.
Supporting Environmental Nonprofits
Beyond our own internal initiatives, we continued our tradition of giving back by supporting a selection of leading environmental nonprofits dedicated to conservation, sustainability, and climate action. This year, J.M. Rodgers proudly donated to:
- The Conservation Fund, which protects America’s most critical landscapes and waterways, ensuring they remain preserved for future generations.
- Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a powerhouse in environmental advocacy, fighting for clean air, clean water, and policies that mitigate climate change.
- Rainforest Trust, an organization that safeguards the world’s most threatened rainforests and the species that call them home.
- Oceana, which works to restore and protect the world’s oceans through science-based advocacy and policy change.
- Sierra Club, one of the nation’s largest grassroots environmental organizations, leading the charge on clean energy and public lands protection.
Our support for these organizations reflects our belief in driving meaningful change through strategic partnerships and dedicated action.
A Greener Workplace: Energy Efficiency & Waste Reduction
Sustainability starts at home—or, in our case, in the office. This year, J.M. Rodgers took further steps to enhance our energy efficiency and reduce waste:
-
Energy-Efficient Windows: We replaced the old windows in one of our office buildings with modern, energy-efficient alternatives, significantly improving insulation and reducing our overall energy consumption. This upgrade has helped lower our heating and cooling needs, cutting down on energy waste while creating a more comfortable and eco-friendly workspace for our team.
-
50% Reduction in Ink Usage: Thanks to our continued efforts to decrease paper usage in the office, we achieved a remarkable 50% reduction in ink consumption. By increasing our reliance on digital documentation and streamlining our internal processes, we’ve minimized waste and reduced our reliance on paper-based operations—moving one step closer to a paperless office.
Looking Ahead
While we are proud of the strides we’ve made in 2024, we know that sustainability is an ongoing journey. As we look ahead to 2025, we are committed to expanding our environmental initiatives, seeking new ways to improve efficiency, and furthering our impact through strategic partnerships and responsible business practices.
At J.M. Rodgers, we believe that every step—whether planting a tree, reducing office waste, or supporting vital conservation efforts—makes a difference. Thank you to our employees, partners, and customers who share our commitment to a sustainable future. Here’s to another year of progress and positive impact!
